The Best Skin Care Routine

“I want dirty skin and dry skin said no one”

Cindy Neitz

The following tips for great skin will have you achieving success for years to come. The secret to the best skin is daily facial skin washing morning and night.

You have to wash away the day’s oil, grime, dirt, and pollutants that have come in contact with your skin. Pair this with a serum and a moisturizing cream and sunscreen for day and serum with a moisturizer at night. Apply an eye cream under the eye area. Do this every day for the best skin you can have.

I recommend Purity Made Simple https://philosophy.com/products/one-step-facial-cleanser all-in one facial cleanser from Philosophy. It is a facial cleanser, toner, and light moisturizer all in one and I have been using it for years. It has kept my skin clean and pore minimized and skips having to buy toner in addition to a facial cleanser.

It is perfect for my sensitive skin and does not make my skin red which is heaven. I use this morning and night and always have it in my travel bag. It dissolves makeup instantly with no heavy scrubbing or wiping off with a washcloth needed.

Just wet skin and apply a dime size to your face and gently rub all over your face-don’t forget to go over your lash line with your ring finger too. Your ring finger is your most gentle finger so it is perfect to let the cleanser go over your lashes.

Then, just rinse your face and it is clean and make up free. Follow with your favorite serum and moisturizer. In a pinch, use a cold cream to remove oil and makeup on your facial skin and a gentle eye makeup remover for your eyelids.

Use The Honest Co. Beauty Serum for morning and night. It runs around 27 dollars at the time of this post but sign up for their email list for sales. It is also available on Amazon, Target, and Ulta for a discounted price.

The Honest Company is Jessica Alba’s company and it is devine. It is super hydrating and leaves a glow to your skin. For a splurge, use Rodan and Fields Total RF serum. It is expensive but so worth it. It is pictured below along with Purity Made Simple with two different label styles but same product.

A consultant for Rodan and Fields can help you get it set up for auto-delivery every two months and with their Perks Program you get a discount to have it auto-shipped every two months. Sometimes, I change my delivery date to every three months so there is flexibility in that.

This serum bottle comes in a glass tube that you will need to save for your replacement tube to be placed into. They will ship you a replacement tube that you just unscrew and put the refill into your existing glass container. It is that easy.

CeraVe has some great moisturizers for day with SPF and CeraVe has a Retinol Serum for post acne scars. These are fairly affordable and won’t break the bank. Try Olay Complete SPF daily moisturizer for basic skincare protection as well. You can get these at supermarkets near you and they work well.

They also have wonderful moisturizers for night. Add on a salicylic acid moisturizer twice a week to help exfoliate your skin and prevent acne. One to try is Philosophy’s Clear Days Ahead line of oil-free salicylic acne treatment cleanser and moisturizer.

My favorite night time moisturizer is The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Overnight Glow Revealing Mask. Apply all over your face avoiding the eye area after your nightly cleanse and leave on overnight. It has a wonderful citrus scent and leaves your skin so moist. You need very little so the product lasts a while.

Use a silk pillowcase nightly and this also helps your hair from tangling. If you don’t have a silk pillowcase switch your pillow case out every few days to launder. You can sleep with the pillow one night and flip the pillow over the next night and launder on the third night to keep the pillowcase clean. This is a great tip for teens so their face always comes in contact with a clean surface.

Use a light foundation with moringa seed oil like The Body Shop’s Second Skin Tint or a mineral powder with sunscreen that is easy to apply and blend. This will save you time in the morning. Just blend and your skin tone is even and protected from the sun.

My personal favorite is Bare Minerals Original Loose Powder SPF 15. IT Cosmetics has a wonderful CC cream if you need more coverage. I believe less is more. The less makeup you put on your skin the more natural you look.

Drink plenty of water daily for the best skin and the best health. Water will keep you hydrated and helps keep your skin supple. If you smoke, work towards quitting as it is hard on your skin and cardiovascular system. Do not start smoking as this makes your skin age faster and constricts vessels and blood flow.

Wear sunscreen daily and wear hats, visors, or baseball caps to protect your scalp and face from the sun’s rays. If you plan to be in the sun, wear a sunscreen of at least a SPF of 30 and reapply after towel drying and every 2 hours.

Exfoliate once a week to get rid of dead skin cells especially if you are not using a salicylic acid or retinol in your regimen.

Pro Tip:

Add a little sprinkle of sugar to your facial wash and gently scrub your face to exfoliate. Try exfoliating gloves or washcloths as needed to get that extra glow when needed. Exfoliating will also help your moisturizer and serum absorb better.

If you have sensitive skin like I do, do not use too much pressure or rubbing when exfoliating. Just a gentle glide over your face with your exfoliant of choice to reduce redness.

Also, change out your makeup sponges regularly and wash your makeup brushes regularly. I use my Purity Made Simple to wash my brushes or Dove soap to wash them and rinse in very hot water. This will help wash away bacteria and dirt from your brushes. There are many makeup brush cleansers on the market to try as well.

To recap the daily steps to the best skin follow these tips

  • Wash your face day and night with a gentle cleanser
  • Apply a serum and suncreen moisturizer for AM
  • Apply a serum and moisturizer for PM
  • Apply an eye cream under the eye area
  • Use a salicylic acid moisturizer once to twice a week
  • Flip your pillow over nightly and change out your pillowcase every third day
  • Try a mineral powder with SPF as your foundation

See, the best skin care is not that hard. Just a few simple steps and make it simple!

Get plenty of rest too and be well no matter what you do.

My developer is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on a number of websites for about a year and am concerned about switching to another platform. I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your developer may be more comfortable with .net. Most customers know .com and .org and may trust these websites first. Just do the research and see if you can customize the website too. A lot of online marketers prefer WordPress. Look at Miles Beckler.com and his You Tube Channel for more info. Also, Nate O’Brien’s You Tube Channel(Santrel Media) for why WordPress is preferred. Hope that helps.
